The 2020 ARIA Awards nominees have been announced, with heavy music relegated to the sole category of best hard rock/heavy metal album.
There are no heavy bands in the running for album of the year, song of the year, best group, or best Australian live act.
The five records vying for the album title are Chunky Shrapnel by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Viva The Underdogs by Parkway Drive, The Death Of Me by Polaris, Everyone Loves You…Once You Leave Them by The Amity Affliction, and High Risk Behaviour by The Chats.
The ARIA Awards season launch saw the nominees in all categories revealed yesterday via YouTube Premiere.
This is the first time in ARIA Awards history that the Season Launch has gone online.
The winners will be announced on November 25, to be broadcast around Australia on the Nine Network, and around the world on YouTube.
