Alt metal song predicted to win triple J’s Hottest 100

Denzel Curry’s cover of Bulls On Parade by Rage Against The Machine is predicted to win triple J’s Hottest 100, according to data crunching website 100 Warm Tunas.

The site, run by Sydney software engineer Nick Whyte, successfully predicted the 2017 and 2018 Hottest 100 winners by collecting and analysing a large sum of data.

It collects images across a handful of social networks to provide an accurate prediction.

With voting now closed (Monday 3pm AEDT), the site has counted 42,273 votes across 4617 entries.

Whyte said while Curry was in the lead, it was looking like a tight race.

“With the current sample of data and the fact there are only a few hundred votes separating the top two, it’s impossible to say with absolute certainty.

“What can be stated with much higher certainty is that 100 Warm Tunas should successfully predict a good portion of songs which will reach the top 10 and top 20.”

While some might brush off the poll for whatever reason, the fact is, the Hottest 100 calls itself the world’s biggest annual online music poll for a reason – a record 2.7 million votes were received last countdown.

The countdown kicks off Saturday, January 25 from midday AEDT.

Denzel Curry’s rendition is the most popular heavy Like A Version on YouTube and 10th most popular overall, with seven million views.

Considering it was recorded in February 2019 and the most viewed Like A Version was recorded in 2015 by Childish Gambino (28 million), it’s an impressive feat.
