Former The Gates of Slumber and Chrome Waves drummer Bob Fouts has died aged 45.
Fouts joined Indianapolis doom metal band The Gates of Slumber in 2006.
He played drums on 2008’s ‘Conqueror’ and 2009’s ‘Hymns of Blood and Thunder’ before quitting, then later rejoining.
The band dissolved in 2013.
In April 2019, the band announced it was reuniting as a trio for Hell Over Hammaburg 2020 and other shows, with Karl Simon on vocals and guitar, Chuck Brown on drums and Steve Janiak on bass.
Daughter Taylor Conner recently spoke of her loss on social media.
“Poppa, all of this is weird. i hear you answering the phone “hey sugga” in my head.
“It’s been playing in my head on repeat all day and it makes me smile.
“You’ve been a dad, a friend, a protector, a music mentor, and an outlet of smiles and laughs for months.
“I’m so glad i got to spend days watching all your favorite silly movies and blaring all your favorite music while we cooked out. you quickly became such a big part of my life and i cherish every second i had with you.
“I made you a promise to always take care of jordan and be there even when he is as stubborn as you are. i miss you already and love you!”
Son Jordan Fouts also remembered him: “I love you pops, rest in peace.”
Karl Simon commemorated Fouts on the band’s Facebook page.
“RIP Bob. I don’t have the words really. He’d seemed like he was on the way back. I hope he’s at peace.”
A cause of death has not been revealed.
