Live album wins 2020 hard rock/heavy metal ARIA

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s live record Chunky Shrapnel has won the 2020 ARIA Award for best hard rock/heavy metal album.

The album and partnering concert film follows the band on their 2019 tour of Europe and the UK in support of the album Infest the Rats’ Nest.

Heavy music was relegated to the sole category, with no heavy bands in the running for album of the year, song of the year, best group, or best Australian live act.

The winners were announced on November 25, broadcasted around Australia on the Nine Network and around the world on YouTube.

The four other records vying for the album title were Parkway Drive’s Viva The Underdogs, Polaris’ The Death Of Me, The Amity Affliction’s Everyone Loves You…Once You Leave Them and The Chats’ High Risk Behaviour.
