Russian extreme metal band Slaughter To Prevail hit 1.5m YouTube views in a month with ‘Demolisher’

Russian extreme metal band Slaughter To Prevail have hit over 1.5 million views on YouTube in a month with their latest track Demolisher.

To put that in perspective, their best performing video, Hell, is at 4.3 million, but it was released over five years ago.

The group premiered the single on YouTube on April 28, later making it available on streaming platforms on May 14.

STP was formed in 2014 by Russian vocalist, Alex “Alex Terrible” Shikolai, UK guitarist Jack Simmons and drummer Anton Poddyachy.

The band’s lineup has since changed, though Shikolai is still the vocalist.

With a hybrid of modern extreme, death, and black metal punctuated by shuddering grooves, the band’s 2016 ‘Chapters of Misery’ EP yielded bruisers such as “Hell,” which racked up over 517,000 Spotify streams and 1.6 million YouTube views as they destroyed stages across Europe with Hatebreed, Ingested, and more.

Signed to Sumerian Records, 2017’s full-length debut ‘Misery Sermon’ properly introduces the group with an atomic bang ignited by piercing vocals in English and Russian, a barrage of guitar assault and battery, and percussive warfare.

Recording in the UK with producer Stu McKay (Bring Me The Horizon, Ingested), they harnessed a hybrid of styles.
